God Blesses a Generous Heart

God created tithing for our benefit.  It teaches us to keep him first in our lives. Tithing is defined as giving 10% off the top to your local house of worship. We believe tithing is for Christians today.  In the Old Testament of the Bible, tithing was established during Abraham’s life, taught as part of the law of Moses, and was affirmed by Jesus as a giving base.  The apostle Paul also taught generosity beyond the tithe.  So yes, tithing to your local church is in the New Testament. It’s not about the money, it’s about our hearts:  “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7 (ESV) God will bless your generousity:  “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!  – Malachi 3:10 (NLT)
